OurExperience

From: Thanh Hoang-Vu

It is really a motivation to see that the Vietnamese in Singapore (and the former one) stick together, even when many of them already left this unreal world for quite a while. Youre right, we do feel the same that we do have a kind of better tie compared to those in our home country (sorry, I really do not know how to call Germany or how is the State to you?). It seems to me unbelievable that I still can find real touching relationship yes you can call it a real friendship in Singapore, an unreal place, a temporarily stop for almost all of us. The only one explanation to me is the extremely good and nearly worry-free life here in Singapore. Life becomes here in Singapore easy, relaxing and funny. Everybody is always ready for fun, active sport and more. This just reminds me very much the time we spent in high school, we had only one serious thing (learning) among many other funny stuffs. Everybody took easy regarding friendship; there was no trouble of money, since our parent took well care of this stuff. I personally feel lucky to be able to experience the time in Singapore. It helped me to gain valuable and honest friends. To be frank, I almost give up the hope to find a real friend when I was still living in Germany. Of course I have a few real good friends, absolutely the real one, however very few. When I first arrived in Singapore and after meeting the community here, I told myself: just enjoy and try to be as much polite as possible, dont ever think of friendship in this environment. I admit I was wrong! And I am happy that I was wrong! My wish is that we do keep this tie long and keep contacting each other, even when life becomes too tough. Compared to the past we all become richer after leaving Singapore in terms of gaining friends. I stay Singapore till end of Aug. to finalize the move to Germany. My~ and the kids already adapt well to the realistic life in Germany. Everything seems to get back to normal. T. Anh is lucky finding an old friend in the same class. Tram also finds her school quite nice. We wish all of you in and out of Singapore a relaxing and healthy life. Keep in touch and try to meet each other when you have a chance to travel to their places.

Long live the friendship!

After 6 hours fly from Singapore, We arrived Kimbo Airport about 0730 AM in the morning. The Typhoon Olga hit South Korea since Sunday morning, The normal drive from Airport to Yongsan, U. S. Forces is about 30 min its took us 2 and half-hours. In three days of torrential down pours, which triggered widespread flooding and mudslides. Throughout Soul and surrounding area many communities in the affected area have been isolated by high water and are without telephone and electrical power. My first day at the office was in the dark; we operate on the emergency power. Only mission critical system allowed to operate from the backup generator. This is the first time; I have no access to e-mail for the last 5 days. I could not e-mail anyone as promised. Since we back from Paris, we were so overwhelm with all the parties in Singapore for the past week. It was so difficult for us to farewell all the member of La~ng Va~n at the Changi Airport. We can not promise everyone that we will meet again one day. However, we can promise to all of them that the memories we had experience in Singapore is always in our heart.

We are staying at the Dragon Hill Lodge in Yongsan. My office number is (822) 7918-4904. We will let you know when we find the place to settle. For the time e-mail is the way.

Keep in touch.

Wish all of you a fast settle to normal life in your new home. After our just one year staying here in Singapore, we had to take leave from so many new and interesting friends. The goodbye seemed to be short but painful to us. It is however a good sign that our Vietnamese community in Singapore is in a healthy relationship. Hope that we should keep up with those tradition values, as a way for our own life experiences & entertainment during the transition time in this nice country.

Hope to see all of you again and again.
